On November 3 the Presidium of the People's Republic dismissed the members of the government, With the exception of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense the National Government appointed deputy ministers. Composition of the National Government: Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs: Imre NAGY Ministers of States: Zoltan TILDY Eels. KOVACS Istvan B. SZABO Anna KETHLY Gyula KELEMEN Jozsef FISCHER Istvan BIBO Ferenc FARKAS Geza LOSONCZY Janos KADAR Minister of Defense: Pal MALETER (See :3.11.56. Background ) THE HUNGARLAN REVOLUTIONARY WORKER-PEASANT GOVERNMENT Situation on November 4 1956. Janos KADAR's announcement on November 4 1956. "The Hungarian revolutionary worker-peasant government has been formed,, On October 23 a mass movement, started in Hungary with the aim of correcting the crimes committed by RAKOSI and his accomplices against the Party and the people and of defending our national independence and sovereignly brought danger upon our socialist achievements, ounpeople's democracy, our worker-peasant rule, the whole existence of [page 2] our fatherland, through the weakness of the Imre NAGY government and counter-revolutionary elements who forced their way into the movement. This prompted us, Hungarian patriots, to form the Hungarian revolutionary worker-peasant government." Composition of the government: Premier: Janos KADAR Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Public Orders: Dr. Ferenc MUNNICH Minister of States: Gyorgy MAROSAN Minister of Foreign Affairs: Imre HORVATH Minister of Finance; Istvan KOSSA Minister of Industry: Antal APRO Minister of Agricultures Imre DOGEI Minister of Commerces Sandor RONAI The other portfolios remain vacant for the time being. (See: 4.11.56. Backqround 7.) On November 7 1956 members of the Hungarian revolutionary workerpeasant government were sworn in the presence of Istvan DOBI, President of the Presidium. (Mon. 8.ll.56.) Resolution of the Hungarian revolutionary worker-peasant government of the management of the branches of state administrations 1. Of the members of the Hungarian revolutionary worker-peasant government Deputy Premier Dr. Ferenc MUNNICH was put in charge of armed forces and public order, Imre HORVATH of foreign affairs, Istvan KOSSA of finances, Antal APRO of industry, Imre DOGEI of agriculture and Sandor RONAI of commerce. 2. The Hungarian revolutionary worker-peasant government authorizes its above-mentioned members to appoint provisional departmental heads to the various ministries.
