Approximately 3000 persons protested against the government in front of the National Theater. Soviet tanks again appeared at the main intersections and street junctions but no incidents occurred. (Radio NOVI SAD.) 0700 According to the lead article of NEPAKARAT the government of the RAKOSI clique was completely anti-democratic. In future no party can place itself above the democratically elected legislative assembly, [??] According to NEPSZABADSAG in future the kolkhozes will be free to direct their economic management. 1215 Out of 244 farmers' cooperatives in county Baranya 162 were liquidated. 1320 (Trade Union of Agricultural and Forestry Workers) of county Heves has been formed. 1710 The government issued instructions that December 25 and 2.6 should be paid holidays. 1715 On November 29 the Hungarian government again requested the Austrian government to allow the functioning of Hungarian committees in Austria to organize the return home of refugees. 1730 The county Baranya Committee of the Hungarian Revolutionary Association of Young Workers calls upon young workers to help in restoring order, at the same time maintaining the right to strike. The appeal demands that Soviet troops should withdraw from Hungary and that the armed militia should be reinforced with young workers. (Radio PECS.) 1930 The Presidium of the National Peace Council held a meeting. It was suggested that Erzsebet ANDICS, Fresident of the National Peace Council, should be replaced. 1945 This afternoon a delegation called upon Gyorgy MAROSAN, State Minister It complained that certain workers' councils hinder the resuming of work and do not adhere to the agreement concluded with the government. Gyorgy MAROSAN said, among other things, that the new weapon of the revolution is to keep the population in constant anxiety with rumors. 1955 The distribution of mail is still unorganized. Parcels from abroad sent after October 23 have not yet been distributed. [page 2] 2010 Due to production stoppages since October 23 the loss incurred amounts to approximately 16 billion forint. 2015 This afternoon workers are demonstrating for the government and against Fascism. Provocators disturbed the demonstration and the armed militia had to use weapons. 2020 According to a communique of the BUDAPEST Police Headquarters/has started to take energetic measures for the liquidation of counterrevolutionary elements. Several members of workers' councils, writers and saboteurs have been arrested. 2200 According to the report of the special correspondent of BORBA, during the night of December 5 to 6 Soviet soldiers wasted to enter several BUDAPEST factories but were prevented by the workers. In the course of the same night several members of workers1 councils and intellectuals, followers of Imre NAGY, were arrested. As a result workers in some BUDAPEST factories entered into strike today. This afternoon the delegation of the BUDAPEST Central Workers' Council called upon the Premier, handed him a list of persons (over 100) arrested and demanded their release. The government did not give a reply. Round 1300 hours today a group of 500 people demonstrated in favor of the government. Another group disturbed this demonstration. Round 1400 hours approximately 1500 people protested in favor of Imre NAGY and against the government. Heavy shooting took place and a number of people were arrested by the police and the army. (Radio NOVI SAD.) 2235 According to a radio commentary 50 persons were arrested by the police during the course of the afternoon. 2400 In BUDAPEST 20 freight-cars of ammunition were rendered harmless by experts.
