CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS IN HUNGARY
(All from official Radio KOSSUTH unless specified)

21 DECEMBER 

0600 Of the 27 farmers3 cooperatives in the district of PAKS 7 were liquidated.

0700 According to a statement of Vilmos SAGI, member of the Commissariat of
Public Supply, the free purchase of agricultural products by the state is
going to be enlarged but the peasants can also sell directly to consumers.

1005 According to NEPSZABADSAG the majority of former Communists do not join
the new Party because they have no sufficient guarantee that it broke away
from the wrong policy of the Hungarian Workers' Party.

01215 According to a communique issued by the Commissariat of Public Supply
stocks of Christmas fondants have run out and owing to power shortage no
more will be manufactured. In 1955 100 freight-cars of fondants were
sold, this year only 12.

1300 In several BUDAPEST factories co-operative shops were opened.

1415 The Municipal Sanitary Authorities will employ manpower only for the
removal of ruins.

1515 According to a decree of the Commissar of Public Supply, from December 22
onwards prohibition has been partially lifted. Consumption in saloons,
however, is not permitted.

1520 From January 1 1957 the number of administrative staff of the SZOLNOK
county council is going to be reduced by 35 per cent.

1710 43 freight-cars of International Red Cross aid arrived in Hungary today.

1715 According to a communique issued by the Ministry of Justice, UP TO DATE
ONLY THREE DEATH SENTENCES WERE PASSED. Up to the evening of December 20
the courts martial dealt with 18 cases.

1930 The OROSZLANY coalmines left the TATA Coalmining Trust.

1937 In BUDAPEST XI. so far 700 homeless families were assigned into apartments.

1945 The Free Trade Union of Fine and Industrial arts was formed. According to
a communique issued by the leaders of the Free Trade Union it demands
complete freedom for the artists. "Let every flower bloom."

1950 A peasant delegation from county Bekes called upon Imre DOGEI, Minister of
Agriculture, asking for the return of their old land. The Minister replied
that it is not allowed to distribute land belonging to state farms and
farmers' cooperatives.

2000 On December 19 coal output in the whole country was 26,400 tons, on
December 20, 27,100 tons. This is approximately 32 per cent of normal
production, (Radio HOMELAND.)

2005 SZABAD FOLD calls upon the peasants to form organizations representing
their interests and farmers' circles. (Radio HOMELAND.)

2010 According to TASS, MOSCOW TV showed a film taken in BUDAPEST during the
revolution,,

2015 The workers' council of the PECS mines calls upon the miners to work
voluntary shifts on December 24.

2030 EPOSZ (National Federation of United Peasant Youth) organizations are
being set up in the whole country.
